ENTERTAINMENTS.

GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES, TO-MORROW NIGHT. “LISTEN LESTER.” Adapted from the stage success or 'he same name, “Listen Lester,” 'a farce compedy which is to be shown to-morrow night, is one of the swiftest of present-day screen plays. The plot hinges on the efforts of a sixty-year-old Don Juan to secure a package of love letters from a middle-aged woman who has an ambition to become the old fellow’s second wife. The man, by the way, has a prepossessing daughter in her, early twenties, and she in no small measure, to the success of the piece. A surpirsingly strong cast includes Alec Farncis, who gives a remarkably fine characterisation in the role of the old man; Louise Fazenda, comedy favourite, very fine as the woman who desires his love ; Harry Myers (Lester), George O’Hara, the., young fellow in love with the old fellow’s daughter, Miss Novak, and Eddie Mora as the hotel’’clerk. “Listen Lester” has been well produced, and, above all, is mounted on a most ambitious rcale.

DONNA VOORHEES VARIETY SPECIALITY CO.

The above company, which is at present appearing at the Theatre Royal, Hamilton, with wonderful success, is due to appear at the Hikutaia Hall on Wednesday. Herbert Snelling, the baritone of the company, is a recent arrival from London, where he appeared consistently at the Palladium. He has a beautiful voice and a very extensive repertoire of songs, ■ isome of which h,ave not been heard before in New Zealand. Lyle Brooks,, the female impersonator, gives something original in backyard scandal, and his representation of a nervousi child in rompers is a. scream. Donna Voorhees is charming in her inimitable sketch acts, and does her work in a faiscinating manner. The Royal Raro Brothers are a host in themselves, and with Herbert Snelling they give a splendid rendering of a selection of Hawaiian melodies. La Las is absolute master; of the Spanish, and steel guitar, and banjo and mandolin, while Nikao, .the dancer, is the original creator of numerous hula dances, all of which are danced in full native costume.

The programme fe both entertain ing and amusing, and patrons are as : sured of an excellent turn out.
