TROUT FISHING.
SEASON OPENS ON THURSDAY. GOOD SPORT ASSURED. The trout fishing season opens in this province on Thursday, October 1. From observations made by enthusiasts it fe understood that the various streams in this district are in good condition, and the season should prove a. particularly good one for the taking of trout, as the streams have been comparatively free from floods fo-r some time.
The Hikutaia, Komata, and Waitawheta streams have been stocked with fry regularly’ each yekr, and fair-sized fish are becoming more plentiful. These streams are all admirably suited to fly-fishing. The Waihou River, with.its big trout and heavy water, continues to attract minnow anglers. For the small sum of £1 fishermen can participate in this healthy and interesting pastime during tlie-season. Once a license is purchased an angler is privileged to fish in any part 'of New Zealand. For women, and boys under 16 years of age, the fee is ss. Licenses are obtainable from the local secretary of the Ohinemuri Acclimatisation Society, -Mr D. Leach, .Belmont Road, Paeroa, from whom can also be obtained full information! pertaining to fishing in the district.
