ANOTHER BUS SERVICE
BETWEEN PAEROA AND PLAINS). SUPPORT FROM NETHERTON. Settlers of Netherton, at a meeting of the Ratepayers’ Association on Saturday evening, on being asked to express an Opinion a’si to whether they considered the establishment of a passenger service from the Plaints to Paeroa was warranted, pledged themselves to support the proposed service when it commenced and to help the organiser in all possible ways. . Mr W. Fleming, of W. Fleming and Son, Paeroa and Ngatea, waited upon the association and explained his. proposition and asked for an expression of opinion. His proposal was .to commence a service between Paeroa and either Netherton or Ngatea. The fares would be half the present fares, which, he considered, were much too high. The fare between Ngatea and Thames was 4s 6d return, and between Ngatea. and Paeroa £1 return. Paeroa was not getting .the business| it deserved because of the high rate. Mr Fleming said he proposed using a 16- passenger vehicle and running to a time-table that would be most suitable to the settlers He desired an expression of opinion as to what times would be most acceptable to the settlers. Until he had conferred with the Ngatea people it was his intention to run from a suitable point at Netherton.
The president and several members of the association congratulated Mr Fleming on his enterprise, and wished him success. They promised to support his service and to do everything in their power to assist it. On the meeting pledging itself to support the service Mr, Fleming assured those present that he would do evertyhing in his power to give good service and warrant the confidence of the settlers.
