Correspondence was read from the Auckland Rugby Union relative to the match, Thames Valley v. Auckland. at TeAroha on September 12. It appeared that the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union was not prepared to back up the arrangement made by its chairman that the match be played without a guarantee. The President reported that he had conferred with the delegates by phone and had agreed to give a £25 guarantee. Arrangements for the match were well in hand. A special train would run from Waihi to TeAroha. It would pass through Paeroa at 2 p.m. The 12.20 Paeroa-TcAroha train would be cut o-ut. It wais not so easy to make arrangements for the return journey. The department suggested leaving TeAroha at 5.15 to connect With the usual Waihi train, but efforts, were being made to get the Waihi train delayed until the arrival of the usual train from Te Aroha, which left at 6.30 p.m. The matter was left in the hands of the committee. It was decided that all persons be charged admission to the match. WAIKATO MATCH. It was decided that there would not be a match with Waikato this season as that body did not have a suitable date. FINANCE. A suggestion from the Piako Union was made by .the President to the effect that each of the sub-unions contribute, say 25 per cent, cf the profit of the winding-up social of the season, at which the trophies were presented, to form a fund with which to send the team on tour. Finance was discussed at length, and it was generally agreed that the sub-unions should contribute, as, unless a fund was established the team could not be sent on tour, and unless this, was done the players could never get into big football. Delegates from certain unions pointed out that social functions did not always show a profit. No decision was arrived at, but the matter will not be l.ost sight of. MATCH AGAINST AUCKLAND.
