GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES. TO-NIGHT. “A SOCIETY SCANDAL.” “A Society Scandal,” which is to be shown to-night, is the most sensational story of modern society that the screen has seen. Gorgeous gowns, dramatic scenes with Gloria Swanson as the woman who sweans revenge on the man who has torn her name to shreds in the divorce court. In this Paramount picture Miss Swanson is supported by Rod La Rocque and Ricardo Cortez. SATURDAY NIGHT. “THE GIRL IN THE LIMOUSINE.” You will have one .of the most unusual opportunities of your lifef to. laugh until your sides ache to-mor-row night, when “The Girl in the Limousine,” the screen version of the famous Broadway stage success, will be shown. The play has been produced with Larry Senwn in the leading role. Senwn has heretofore confined his efforts to comedies of one or two reel-lengths, but in this picture he steps out into the field of feattM’C work with excellent results. Thrills .and laughs judiciously mixed is Semon’ts recipe for ideal entertainment, and having seen “The Girl in the Limousine’’ you will say that the recipe is perfect. BOXING TOURNAMENT. NEXT TUESDAY’S EVENT. Arrangements have been completed by the Waihi Boxing Association for tlic holding of a tournament in the Gaiety Theatre, Paeroa, on Tuesday evening. Ten bouts arc set down for decision, and patrons should be treated to a thoroughly enjoyable evening’s entertainment. Among the light-weight items, of which there arc five, is a bout between W. Colledgc (Waihi) and Batt. Nelsen (To Aroha), the well-known South Auckland champion, B. Dunstan (Wharepoa), provincial heavyweight champion, is to meet Clarke Vedder (Hikutaia), and a ding-dong go is expected. In the cadet championship two local lads (Burgess and Lee) arc to try conclusions. In the welter-weights will be found an item of particular local interest, namely, Viv. Smith (Paeroa) v. young McCowatt (Turua). Smith, who is making his first public ring appearance, is being thoroughly prepared for the contest by his uncle, Mr E. Smith, and it is Confidently expected that the local man will, give a good accbunt of himself. The tournament will conclude with Jim Colledge, South Auckland feather-weight champion, boxing with D. Armishaw ,the provincial featherweight champion. Prices of admission have been made very reasonable, considering the quality and fame of many of the contestants, and a bumper house is expected. Special train arrangements in connection with the football match, Kamil ton v. Morrinsvillc, at ffamilton, to be played fo-morrow, appear in this issue.
