NETHERTON ROADS.

COMPLAINTS BY MOTORISTS. COUNTY COUNCIL’S SIDE. The deplorable state of the main road round Netherton which has for some considerable time been the subject of very adverse comment by practically every paper reporting on the state of roads for motoring, was touched upon by the county engineer at Thursday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. Mr Basham reported that no reply had yet been received from the Main Highway Board. It was necessary to get. consent to any maintenance proposal exceeding £5O before the work wab put in hand if a contribution from the highway funds was desired. Numerous and regular applications had been made, but in most cases the letters had- not even been acknowledged. The county was prepared to maintain the road, but the worx was held up by the Highways Board.
