DOMAIN BOARD.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. At the conclusion of the Paeroa Borough Council meeting on Thursday last the Domain Board sat, the chairman (Mr W. Marshall) presiding NOXIOUS WEEDS. C. H. Pascoe wrote drawing attention to the spread of gorse and blackberry on Primrose Hill and asking that steps be taken to eradicate the weeds and prevent their spread to his property. The chairman said that he was anxious to see that something was done. The position be firmly tackled. The matter was referred to the incoming committee for a report. The domain superintendent (Mr W. Hamilton), reported as follows:— “Since my last report my time has mainly been occupied in the cutting of grass on the greens and in various other places. This has taken more time than usual, owing to the excep - tional amount of growth during the last season. Again the paths have taken a considerable amount of time, more so this season than last, owing to the fact of the decision to have them tarred and sanded. They are now completed, and are ready to be tarred and sayded. Thid coming season my time will be fully occupied in the considerable amount of pruning that has to be done.” —Adopted. EXPERIMENTAL PLOTS.
The application of the Agricultural instructor, Education Board, Auckland, for several strips of land on Primrose Hill for the purpose of carrying but experiments with artificial manures was granted, .and it was suggested that a copy of the result of tne experiment might be forwarded to the board for its information.
The road to Kaihere alongside .the Torehape tramline is breaking UP. rapidly with the traffic,' and many deep ruts and. holes have been formed on the off-side away from the tramline. To avoid these the driver of a motor truck loaded with footballers and proceeding to Kaihere on Saturday, drove for, some distance with two wheels between the tramrails. On arriving at a place where the sleepers • made travelling thus too rough' the driver pulled off, but the weihgt with one wheel on the rail and the other in a rut caused the lower wheel to collapse. The footballers walked on until met by another motor lorry.
