PLAINS A. & P. ASSN.

THIS YEAR’S ANNUAL SHOW.

ABANDONMENT DECIDED ON.

The decision to abanJo: its annual show was decided upon by the Hauraki Plains A; and P. Association at a meeting at Kerepeehi on Monday evening, Mr P. R. Henry presided, and there were ten members present. In moving that the show-be abandoned the president said that there seemed little prospect of the restrictions imposed by • the Health Department being lifted for some time, and the association wats not in a position to face a financial loss.

In regard to the annual sports meeting Mr Henry suggested that the matter be held in abeyance.. A meeting of members could be called if the restrictions were lifted in a few weeks. Mr W. Thompson thoiiight that a later date than Easter Monday might be used. The delay, however, would be a gamble, as the fine weather could not be depended upon after Easter. The condition of the running track was such that fine weather was essential.

. The president reported that numerous entries, accompanied by entry fees, and several donations had been received.

The secretary was instructed to refund. the entrance money and write to those persons who had made donations. In regard to the subscriptions received, these would be retained, and an effort would have to be made to collect the balance. The showground was loaded with an annual liability of about £l2O, and accounts now due totalled £153-odd. Cash in hand amounted to about £9O. A stock drive was' suggested to -raise funds, but the opinion was expressed that this would be more profitable if deferred until early spring.

In regard to the advertisers in the schedule, it was considered that they had received value for their money as the. advertisements had been inserted in the schedule, which was circulated. It was decided to gra.nt the Kerepeehi Football Club the use of about five acres of the jshowgrbund for the season at a rental of £2 iOfe ; also to allow Kerepeehi settlers to graze horses or cows at 2s a week until such time as the! ground was leased.

The president and secretary were authorised to appoint an auditor.
