FARM PRODUCTS.
PRICES IN NORWAY.
Norwegian newspapers recently received by a Hauraki Plains settler give the following information con’cerning the wholesale prices of farm products ruling in the capital city, Oslo, early in January last. The paper is published in a farming district, and comments that prices generally have come down fox- farm product lines, but colonial goods are still very high. Small dairy cows are quoted at from £25 to £35, medium sized £35 to £42 10s, and large dairy cows up to £52 10s. Pigs, four weeks old, realise about £2 10s, 7 to 8 weeks old £3 10s, ten weeks old £4, and up to 12 weeks old £5. Hides are evidently sold by weight, a kilogram being approximately 2 l-51b. Small bullock hides are worth 3s per kilogram, large hides and cow hides 2s per kilogram. Calfskins are worth from 10s to 12s each, and horsehides 37s 9d each. Factory butter is. sold at from 5s 6d to 6s 6d per kilogram wholesale, and eggs stamped with date 3s 9d for kilogram weight.
Meat is also quoted per kilogram at the following prices : Prime ox beef 4s, cow beef 3s 6d, horse flesh Is lid to 2s 2d, mutton 3s 6d, lamb 3s. 6d, veal 3s 6d to 4s 4d.
Oats bring £1 18s per .100 kilogram (2201 b maize £2, hay 15s, and table potatoes SI ss. These prices have been calculated on the basis of a krone being worth Is. Prior to the war 18.159 krone went to the £l, but at the present, rate of exchange 31.25 krone go to the pound sterling.
