The £lO donation . promised towards the expenses of the official opening of the new station has. . not yet been received.” In moving that the report be rd - ceived the Mayor (Mr W. suggested that the fire council should y bold its meetings earlier in the month bo as to give the councillors more opportunity of going through the reports. . Cr. Flatt said that there would be ; > no difficulty in doing as suggested. .In making, application fpr a grant ’, of £lOO, Cr. Flatt pointed out th,at the^ 1 council had not made a grant to the , brigade for nearly three and a half s years.. ■. The Mayor reminded the meeting that between £3OO and £4'oo had been spent last year on the ■ new station : building. After a brief discussion it Was resolved to grant a sum of £lOO, and that the resident fireman be appointed caretaker at a cost not 5s a week.
