MAGISTRATE’S COURT
MUNDAY, DECEMBER 1, 1924. (Before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S-M.) At the Magistrate’s Court, Paeroa, on Monday last, before Mr J. H. Salmon, S.M., Mrs W. R. M. Sorensen proceeded against her husband, Henry Desmond Sorensen, for failing under a maintenance order made on August 6, 1923 to provide 10s a week for each of his four children. Arrears amounting to £lB were claimed. Mr E. W. Porritt appeared for Mrs Sorensen and stated that £l3 had been paid into Court, reducing the arrears to £5. H. D. Sorensen said that he was making every endeavour to keep up the payments under the order, but he had had difficulty in finding steady employment. The Magistrate said it appeared to him that payments were not made unless pressure was brought to bear. Defendant must comply with the terms of the order. It was not fair to put complainant to unnecessary expense in obtaining the money. The case would be adjourned for one month to enable defendant to find the balance due, and he would also be called on to pay complainant’s solicitor the sum of £1 Is.
