ENTERTAINMENTS.

GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES. TONIGHT THE SPANISH DANCER. “The Spanish Dancer,” a Herbert, Brenon production for Paramount, starring Pol a Negri, will be the big attraction at the Gaiety Theatre tonight. The story deals with the love romance of a gipsy girl of rare beaut} in Spain during the reign of Philip IV. Every scene has a thrill of its own, and Pola Negri’s role is one of extraordinary dramatic strength. Antonio Moreno plays opposite the star. MLN’ICIPAL BAND CONCERT. The programme to be rendered by the Te Aroha Municipal Band and party at the Gaiety Theatre, Paeroa, on Tuesday, December 9, promises to be more than ordinarily good. The artists who are assisting have established records on the concert platform. Two of the performer? are well known to Paeroa, namely; Mrs G. A. Bush (contralto) and Mr Leslie Flatt (violinist). Messrs E. C. Wykes and V. Gr’inlington (comedians) are particularly clever, and never fail to cause roars of merriment from their audiences. Miss Tui Woodroffe is the possessor of a soprano voice of high merit. Mr J. G. Young (baritone) is this year’s gold medallist at the Hamilton competitions, and he also won championship honours at the recent Cambridge competitions. Mr A. Joll, of Hamilton, is a singer of repute, and is recognised as one of the leading vocalists in :the Waikato. A novelty will be introduced by Mr Christensen, who will produce tuneful melodies from an ordinary carpenter’s saw. Mr Lou. Buchan is known throughout New Zealand as a cornet player of merit, while Messrs N. Austin (euphonium) and W. P. Jarrett (trombone) wil) delight the audience with their renderings. It is hoped that the public will give every support to the entertainment, the proceeds of which are to go towards the purchase of a new set of Boosey band instruments. The prices of admission are reasonable, and patrons are advised to book their seats early at Flatt’s.
