LOCAL ENTERPRISE.

PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE. PREMISES OF P. WILLIAMS. LTD. A decided improvement to the business premises of the enterprising firm of Percy Williams, Ltd., Normanby Road, Paeroa, has recently been effected. Mr Percy Williams, the principal of the firm, although comparatively a newcomer to the town, has unbounded faith in the future progress and prosperity of Paeroa and the district, and in anticipation of catering adequately for the requirements of a discerning public he has carried out extensive alterations by converting four small windows into two large plate-glatss ones. These windows have a frontage of 16ft each to the street, with a depth of Bft, and are raised a foot above the level of the footpath. The mountings are of highly finished rimu, w’ith fibrous plaster anti batten ceilings and a handsome background of Oregon pine 3-ply and arctic glass. The floor space Inside lends itself admirably to effective window-dress-ing, and aided by a number of handsome fittings and models, and Mr Williams’ ability as a window dresser, some very pleasing displays of the latest spring goods are at present being made. ''The interior of the shop has also undergone a complete change. The rear portion has been lengthened b> 25ft and the left wall carried out for a considerable distance so as to give increased floor space at the rear of the shop, the larger portion being attractively fitted up, as a show-room and fitting room under the supervision of Mrs Williams. The comfort of customers has been studied as far as possible by the provision of ample seating accommodation and an open fireplace, and by the laying down of battleship linoleum throughout. Extra counter accommodation has been instated. with an adequate number of assistants for each. The provision of nine large skylights .ensures ample light and ventilation, and customers will experience little difficulty in distinguishing colours and textures on the score of light. To dispel the gloom of winter a number of 75-candliC-power lights have been installed, and to facilitate matters, both for the customer and the staff, the Lamson, wire railway cash system is in operation. Tlie firm extends a cordial invitation to the public to call and inspect the premises, together with the large stocks of spring and summer goods which have just been unpacked.*
