JERSEY CATTLE.
SECOND PEDIGREE SALE. It has been pointed out that one of the weak spots in the dairying industry in New Zealand is the matter of breeding for production, but in this connection the members of the Thames ..Valley Jersey Breeders’ Club have gained an enviablp reputation for breeding on the righl! lines. The m'atter of improved herds with greater butter-fat production has to be tackled if the industry is to progress satisfactorily in the district, and an opportunity will be afforded settlers at the Hikutaia saleyards on October 16 to purchase ’a sire of outstanding merit, backed by a long ancestry of butter-fat producing qualities. Anyone contemplating the purchase of a good hferd sire would be well advised to apply for a catalogue at once and study the pedigrees and records of the sixty animals that are to be submitted to auction.
