Building permits to tire value of £4968 10s were issued by the Paero 1 Borough Council during the past month. For the year fortv eight permits were granted, totalling in value £12,7'56.

A young man. giving the name of Ri'ey Reilly, was apprehended by Constable McClinchy at Tirohia during the week-end, and was charged wiOi tile’ theft of a dog, valued at £5, at Tirohia on Good Friday, and also with having no visible means of support. Reilly is to be brought before tins Court on Saturday morning next, when the two charges will be heard.

At a sitting of the Warden’s Court at Paeroa on Thursday last, before Mr J. H. Salmon. Warden, Walter Wintie applied for a special quartz claim over 100 acres at Karanigahake known as the Talisman United. The application was granted, subject to speei <1 conditions imposed by the Minister for Mines, the work to commence within three months.

The presentation of the annual report of the Paeroa Fire Council was held over at Thursday night’s meeting of the Borough Council owing to th" absence of the chairman, Mr F. E. Flatt.

The service will commence at 11 a.m. The meeting of the Paeroa Borougn Council was three-quarters of an hour late in commencing on Thursday evening last owing to there not being a sufficient number present to form a quorum. „

At the Magistrate’s. Court, Paeroa, on Thursday last a renewal of a land agent’s license was granted to Edwin Edwards, Paeroa.
