ENTERTAINMENTS.

GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES. TO-NIGHT. JAVA AHEAD. The old Derby YVharf, at Salem, Mass.,- has been rebuilt. Demolished about fifty years ago, it was reconstructed for moving picture purposes. George Melford’s latest Paramount production, which will be screened to night, required the docking of an old time sailing vessel at this wharf, so the only thing to do was to construct the- old wharf. This is but one of the ma'ny colossal understakings of a production unit in the making of a motion picture. Many like feats are accomplished in “Java Ahead.” " THURSDAY NIGHT. THE STREETS OF NEW YORK. A really remarkable picture—“ The St-eets of New York’’—is schedule! for presentation to morrow niglit. It is’ a picturisalion of the famous old melodrama o£ the same name whicn enjoyed a colossal success upon the speaking stage. Under the able direction of Burton King, it has been transformed into a splendid photoplay which is guaranteed to hold any theatre-goer engrossed from start to finish. REV. FRANK GORMAN. PAEROA TO-MORROW NIGHT. After a three years’ absence in Australia, where he has fulfilled con* tinuous engagements covering that period, the Rev. Frank Gorman returns to New Zealand on a third visit, and to-morrow niglit the Paeroa public will be given an opportunity of hearing this artist. In addition to the Rev. Frank Gorman’s appearances at the theatres during week days he occupies the pulpits of various churches on Sundays—tlie results of this mission has added many thousands of pounds to deserving charities. Whatever may be the success of the Rev. Frank Gorman in the pulpit, his success on the stage is assured—for he is always well appreciated by all who hear, this wonderful artist.
