ANNUAL BALL

DAIRY CO. STAFF'S Ft ACTION. SUCCESSFUL PAEitOA FIXTURE. The Paeroa staff of the N.Z. Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd., has already established something of a reputation in the district by the r<> ularity of its annual ball fixtures, both plain and masquerade, and Ir.st night further honours were added to-the record when the L'liith annual ball was held in the Central Theatre. Paeroa. The function was largely attended by local people, as well as visitors from Thames. Hikutaia. Morrinsvillc, Te Arolia, Waihi, and Hauraki Plains. A fine moonlight'night and the roads in the district being in fair condition no doubt helped to swell the attendanceAs on previous occasions, a strong committee, led by the indefatigable secretary, Miss B. Jones, spared no efforts to ensure the success of the function, and that all enjoyed themselves was clearly evident by the oncrocs demanded o fthe orchestra. The decorations this year were much- admired, and were considered by many to be among the prettiest yet seen in the theatre. Nikau palms, pungas. and lycopodium were used with good effect, and the result produced on the stage gave the appearance of a delightful fern bower. A largo centre-piece hung from the coiling, and from this red, green, and blue (staff colours) streamers were arranged in a striking manner. Chinese lanterns were hung in various noows and crannies among the palms, giving a decidedly pretty touch to th? decorative scheme. The dance music was supplied by 'the Morrinsville Elite Jazz Band, an 1 proved irresistible- to those taking part on the floor. The onerous duties of .M’s.C. were capably filled by Messrs C. Nielsen and F. W. Pitts, assisted Miss B. Jones. A new departure was made this year in the supper arrangements. Each person received a supper ticket, which admitted to either the first or second sitting in the supper room. Although the supper was dainty au.l delicious, there was a tendency to overcrowd the room at times, and as a consequence some delay occurred, but the committee, profiting by last night’s experience, will make other arrangements for the future. However, the slight inconvenience experienced by the guests in the supper room in no way detracted from the enjoyment,of the evening.
