ACCIDENT IN PAEROA.

THROWN FROM A BOLTING HORSE

MAURI ED WOMAN INJURED.

A married woman, Mrs K. N. Hep-

pell, was thrown heavily from a horse on Monday evening and sustained slight concussion and bruises. It appears that Mrs Heppell left Mr W. D. Keys’ farm, Paei’oa, to ride into the town on a horse borrowed from Mr T. Buckley, of Mill Road. While proceeding along Te Arolia Road towards Paeroa the horse became frightened and bolted. Mrs Heppell managed to guide the runaway safely over the Criterion Bridge into Victoria Street. When near the post office the animal increased its pace and attempted to negotiate the bank at the junction Victoria and Wood streets, near the gate leading to Primrose Hill. At this place the rider was thrown and sustained the injuries stated. Dr. Smith was quickly on the scene and rendered first aid. Mrs Heppell was then conveyed to tiie Criterion Hotel, where she is progressing satisfactorily.
