BOWLING.
ALLEY CHALLENGE BUTTONS. HIKUTAIA V. PAEROA. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent on the Paeroa bowling green on Wednesday last, when the Hikutaia club sent up a team to do battle against a local team and 1 egain the | Alley Challenge Buttons. The teams< selected were:—Hikutaia: Brash, W. H. Alley, J. Morrison, and A. R. Robinson. Paeroa : Bayfield, Brown, Purdie, and Williams. Right from the first head the Hikutaia team proved too strong for the local players, and eventually won by 23 to 12.
The visitors gave a particularly fine display of bowling, and it was evident that they were at home on the green by the brilliant shots that they brought off from time to time. Brash played consistently good bowls as lead; while Robinson as skip played a very solid game. Of the local team Williams as skip played some good shots.and his generalship saved Paeroa from a greater defeat. Much interest was taken in the game by the spectators, and the feeling, was unanimous that the Hikutaia. team deserved its win, and received hearty applause on the completion of the contest.
