ORCHARD EAST ROAD.
SUBSIDY AVAILABLE.
PROPOSALS MAY BE SUBMITTED
When the list of Government grants was published last year there appealed a grant of £BOO for Orchard East Road, Piakp County. An interested person, thinking .that a mistake had been made, communicated with Mr T. W. Rhodes, M.P. for Thames, on the matter.
Mr Rhodes has just replied stating that when the Estimates were before Parliament he had drawn attention to the msitake. Recently he wrote to the Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department, and was advised that the grant was for Orchard East Road, Hauraki Plains County,, and that there was nothing to prevent the county council submitting it* ■proposals for the work so that the Minister could be asked to approve the issue of the note if they were satisfactory. The subsidy is for that part of the ro id in the Turua Southern Area.
