BUILDING ACTIVITIES.
PROGRESS MADE
THE YEAR’S FIGURES.
That Paeroa is progressing so far as new buildings are concerned is disclosed by the value of building permits issued by the Borough Council.
During the year ending December 31, 1923, the value of permits issued totalled £11,834, compared with £10,009 for the previous year, showing an increase of £1825. Taking the twelve months separately, the largest value in permits was' issued in November, totalling £2699. The average monthly value for last year was £986.
While a fair amount of additions and renovations to existing buildings has been carried out, it is gratifying to record that the new buildings that have been erected during last year were of a more solid and attractive class than has been erected in the past. There to be a decided revival in the building trade in this town at the present time, and with the erection of the proposed new railway station in Moore Street, post office on the corner of Normanby Road and Princes Street, and the new maternity and casualty hospital on its site on the Waihi road, Paeroa should show marked progress daring the ensuing twelve months, so far as up-to-date buildings are concerned.
