F.E. FLATT.

IDEAL CHRISTMAS GIFTS. - The Giving Season is round once again, and this year Mr F. E. Flatt, I Belmont Road, has made a special effort to provide, the public with a wider range of suitable presents for al), and by so doing Mr Flatt rightly anticipates that the display that is being made will induce people to shop in their own town. In conversation with Mr Flatt it was learned that this year there is a considerable decrease in prices, and yet the many lines are of far better quality. A visit to the shop convinces one that every effort has been made to arrange the many lines attractively, and the fullest use has been made of the interior of the large building and windows so that visitors to Paeroa as well as local residents may realise that the town in general, and Flatt’s Emporium in particular, is just us up-to-date as the larger centres, and that there is no need to visit them to carry out Christmas shopping with satisfaction. On looking round the shop the special display of calendars attracts which line has become very popular. Another attractive line that makes useful presents is the splendid assortment of boxed . stationery and papierettes; which range in price from Is to 6s. Great pleasure can be had by giving books as presents, and a glance round the well filled shelves shows that all the latest fiction is in stock, and further supplies are being receiv-" ed.- The kiddies, will be delighted with the toy department, and Mr Flatt states that' the range of all kinds of toys has increased a lot this year, and that they are not only more useful, but are more durable, being mostly of English make. Bring the little ones in and enjoy the fascination of seeing the many weird and wonderful toys, which can -be purchased at prices ranging from 3d to 60s. Remember, each child who makes a purchase, no matter how small, is to receive a balloon. For the grown-ups a special feature has been prepared this year by the provision of a large show-case containing a hundred and one different lines in leather goods and novelties, comprising bags, smoker’s outfits, dressing cases, and many other lines too numerous to mention. This class of goods is very populaij, and much sought after, and as the prices are from 3s 6d to 80s patrons should have no difficulty in selecting a suitable gift at a pri'ce commensurate with their purses. This year Mr Flatt has gone in extensively for high-grade china and glassware, and in this- department is to be found a splendid line of pearl and coaching ware, which is too well ’ and favourably known to require comment; suffice it to say that in this department alone one should have no difficulty in selecting a Christmas present that will give pleasure and be very useful. Mr Flatt is to be congratulated on his enterprise in catering so ’successfully for the festive season, and by his large and varied stocks of goods, the prices of which have been plainly marked. He has- shown that Paeroa shopkeepers can rise to the occasion and provide for the needs and requirements of the people of this town and district.
