RAILWAY STATION SITE.
INSPECTION BY ENGINEERS. DECISION NOT YET MADE. Mr S. J, McKenzie, Assistant Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, and Mr F, C. Widdop, Superintendent of the Railway Department, and Mr A. Koch, District Engineer of the Railway Department, were in Paeroa Wednesday afternoon and yesterday conferring .with the member for the district, Mr H. Poland, and the Borough Council and the resident Public Works engineer, Mr May, in connection with the site of the proposed new railway station. The visiting engineers were interviewed by the whole pf the Council, and the representations made in the interests of the town were courteously received and fully recognised by the officers. The various sites were visited several times, and fully investigated. No decision has yet been arrived at, and the possibility of using the area to the west of Puke Road is again being considered. It is confidently expected that a decision will be reached ijn the very near future, and in making that decision the Departments are prepared to give all reasonable consideration to the welfare of Paeroa. The whole subject is being dealt with in a comprehensive and farseeing manner, so as to provide for all future developments, and the following details will be of general interest ; The “railway bridge will be raised approximately seven feet, and the crossing along the stop-bank, which is railway property, will be closed.
