Building permits to the value of £3OOO were issued during the month by the Hauraki Plains County Council. All the Nelson doctors have unanimously passed a resolution protesting against the adoption of mixed' schools in Nelson, where a complete system of separate schools is possible, and has been in operation for several years. “Mr Massey has gone to London and Mr Wilford is visiting Singapore, so I have been left behind to look after New Zealand.” —Mr H. An outstanding feature is the Australian Jockey Club’s meeting at Randwick, with graphic illustrations of principal races, special space being allotted to Ballymena.
