METHODIST BAZAAR.
SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. For many months past the workers of the Paeroa Methodist Church have been busy sewing and preparing for their sale of work, which was held in the Central Theatre yesterday. The sale of work was formally opened by His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) at 2 P-m. Despite the showers that fell the bazaar was well patronised both during the afternoon and evening. Brisk sales were the order of the day, as was evidenced by the sally depleted appearance of the stalls before 9 p.m. During the evening various competitions were held, creating much interest and amusement. A most enjoyable musical programme was submitted, , songs being acceptably rendered by Miss Morrison and the Rev. Jefferson, while little Bobby Bramley caused a lot of amusement with his comic recitation, as also did his younger brother. Mr A. L. Mitchell acted as accompanist. The following are the names of the different stall-holders: Mrs Parkinson, jumble stall; Mesdames' Jefferson, Marshall, Tattersall, and Eaddy, sewing stall; Mesdames L. Gibb and Woods, and Misses Gibb (2) and Woods, sweet stall: Misses Rickard and Whitmore, flower stall; Mesdames G. Davidson and Primmer, cake stall; Miss B. Gibb, fish pond; Mesdames H. Hayward, C. Morgan, E. E. Gillman, and Misses J. Butler, N. Hayward, and D. Robbins, tea rooms. At the conclusion of the bazaar all the perishable goods were auctioned by Mr B. Stansfield, and spirited competition prevailed.
