WARNING TO BATHERS.
DANGER AT THE JUNCTION. RIVER DREDGED DEEPER. For many years it has been the custom for the young folk of Paeroa, and older ones, too, for that matter, to indulge in swimming and frolickr ing on that strip of beach at the junction of the Waihou and Ohinemuri rivers between M ! r C. Hudson’s late home and Mr E. Shaw’s property. This year a change has come over the scene, and it is as well for parents and others to take warning. The Public Works Department has been actively at work dredging in the locality mentioned, rendering the river at that part very unsafe for all except strong swimmers. In some places just out from the bank the river drops down suddenly about fifteen feet. There is also the risk that through the dredging operations the bank may be undermined and collapse with any weight on it. It is to be hoped. that those who have been in the habit of bathing ijn this locality will be warned of the danger and “look before they leap.” .
