BLAZE AT
FARMSTEAD DESTROYED. A residence, owned and occupied by Mr J. Murdock art, Hikutaia, was totally destroyed by fire at 5 p.m. on Monday. The owner was away and the family all in the milking-shed. Before the alarm was given the flames had secured so great a held, that it was impossible to cope with them. The family lost valuable jewellery and were pnly left with their working clothes. A farm hand, A. Greenwood* residing with . the Murdocks, lost all his effects, and also £5O in notes. The insurances are not avail- 4 able, owing, to the owners absence,! but he is likely to be a very heavy locer.
