BOXING
WAIHI ASSOCIATION. — > TOURNAMENT ON SATURDAY. Another of their popular tournaments is to be conducted on Saturday next for the Waihi Boxing Association at Waihi. This association'has gained a wide popularity, both with followers of the sport and boxers, as is evidenced by the fact that nominations have been received from as far north as Wangarei and south as far as Taumarunui. From the large number of nominations a very fine programme has been selected, which includes six contestants from other towns, and the association anticipates that this will be | the best tournament seen in Waihi, and equal td any amateur tournament in the Dominion. The local amateur match, Shergold versus Thorpe, still holds pride of place, - but there is every likelihood of the Haggie-Mullett and Slacker-Clark bouts proving well< out of the ordinary. AH the lads are clean, hard fighters, and can give and take any amount of punishment, and those who appreciate real fight will have an opportunity of witnessing it on Saturday night.
