ngatea. library meeting. A meeting of the Ngatea Library Committee was held on Tuesday evening, There were present: Mr H. MNorris (chairman), Mesdames Hayward, Dudding, McKerchar, Miss Norris (librarian), Mr W. J. Clare, and Mr R. Phelan (secretary). The secretary reported that there were at present 26 subscribers. -He .suggested that when purchasing new books due regard be given to other than fiction. He recommended that a “suggestion book” be placed in the library. It was decided, on the motion of Mr W. J. Clare, seconded by* Mrs W. GHayward, that the resignations of Mr and Miss Norris and Mr Phelan, who are leaving the district, be accepted with regret. , On .the motion of Mr Clare, seconded by Mrs Hayward, it was decided that a vote of thanks be accorded Messrs Phelan and Norris and Miss 1 — Norris, and that it be placed bn record the committee’s appreciation of their services. It was decided to ask Mr. K. bell and Mrs Darlington to becont£T* members of the committ.ee, Mr N. J. Crabb to become secretary and librarian, and Mr Payne to become assistant librarian. It was agreed that ? the new committee be called together as soon as possible to consider means of raising funds. PERSONAL. Mr P. Bertelsen, of Netherton, has been appointed road foreman for ths Lands and Survey Department at, Ngatea, vice Mr H. M. Norris, who is leaving for Honolulu early next month. KEREPEEHI. INFLUENZA. ' J Messrs E. Taylor, C. Hudson, and O. Gillespie, of the Lands Department staff, are at present suffering wi:h influenza. TURUA. TENNIS CLUB. The Turua tennis club has disposed “ of the section on which the courts are established to the Bank of New Zealand. The club intends to acquire a section farther out of town and lay down four courts. The club will continue to use the courts until the new ones are opened, 1 METAL FOR ROADS. Ninety yards of metal arrived on Friday last for the Turua Town Board. A big proportion of this was spread on the roads by members of the Board and the settlers. A scow wKh 110 yards of metal for the County Council also arrived during the wee.k-end. KAIHERE. TENNIS CLUB. The Kaihere Tennis Club will open its courts for the season on Saturday next. An invitation has been extended to members of kindred clubs to be present.
