PAEROA PUBLIC LIBRARY
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The bi-monthly committee, meeting of the Paeroa Public Library was held on Friday evening, Mr S. JBishop in the chair. FINANCE. The secretary (Mrs A. Thorp) reported that she had received the annual grant of £lO from the Paeroa Borough Council, and also the grant frem the Ohinemuri County Council had been passed for payment. The library funds were stated to be iu a little better condition than was the case at the annual meeting. RESPONSE TO APPEAL, In response to the committee’s appeal, by means of householders’ letters. had been fairly satisfactory. Further support, either by donation of books or new subscribers is sti>l urgently required to enable the committee to carry on and keep the library something like up-to-date. The committee’s thanks are extended to Mrs D. J. Evans, Misses Dutton and Brownbill, and Messrs Hanna and Tetley for donation of books, Mr A. R. Gorrie for magazines, and Mrs Salt for a cash donation. MEMORIAL LIBRARY. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr W. L. Lav rence, <t was decided to write and thank the Chamber of Commerce and Business Mon’s Association for their suggestions that the War Memroia] funds should be used to establish a Memorial Library. It was decided to cooperate with these bodies in whatever steps they should take to advance the project. NEW BOOKS. It was decided that the selection committee should forthwith purchase £5 worth of new books from the list of books recorded in the suggestion book. ACCOUNTS. Accounts totalling £6 were , passed for payment.
