Weldon’s Ladies’ Journal, August Number.—All the loveliest fashions for the : summer are contained in this number. Gratis patterns are enclosed of a washing frock and new short tennis coat. Weldon’s Bazaar of Children’s Fashions, August Number.—This number contains lovely summer fashions for children, gratis patterns to make a girl’s dress 8 to' 10 years, play-time and best frocks, 2 to 4 years, boy’s sports shirt, 12 to 14 years, child’s beach suit, 1 to 2 years. The number also includes the latest styles for coats, three-piece costumes for .school girls,, washing frocks, silk and lace dresses for the holidays, tennis and sports wear for boys and girls, tiny tots, and girls ot 14' to 20. The Detective stories in the Jbne number are a fine assortment of crimes and their detection. The outstanding feature is “ The Great Detective Scandal,” by W. Teigmouth Shore. This is an amazing recital of a fraud that involved even Scotland Yard. Once taken up the Detective Magazine holds quite a spell over its readers. The “Strand” for July contains, amongst an exceptionally good lot of stories, the third instalment of Ethel M.
