IVAITAKAKURU. CREAM CARTAGE CONTRACTS. At a meeting of Waitakaruru suppliers to the N.Z. Co-operative Dairy Co. held on Monday the question of cream cartage routes and contracts was discussed at length, and it was finally decided t.o call the. following alternate tenders: (1) From Haleys corner to Ngatea', picking up all cream to Dalgety’s corner, as at present; (2) from Haley’s corner to Ngatea, picking up all cream to the canal; (3) from the canal depot to ’•R’t’ntea, picking up all cream to Dal-gety-’s corner ; (4) from Lough s gate, Canal Road, t.o Ngatea, picking up all cream to Dalgety’s corner. PROPOSED FACTORY. The agitation for a dairy 7 factory at Waitakaruru has died a natural death. The settlers did not desire a proprietary concern, and the N.Z. Dairy Co. would not build a butter factory at present, as 'there is insufficient cream offering, but offered to build a cheese factory on the usual terms for repayment. Owing to the small number of cows this would come unduly hard on suppliers, and the project has been dropped.
