(Published by Arrangement.) Thames Harbour Scheme Will Pay? LARGE INCREASE IN TRADE ASSURED. OPPOSITION ARGUMENTS SENSELESS.
The production of cheese by the Thames Valley Co-operative Dairy Co. Ltd., for the season is expected to approximate to 4,000 tons. In sympathy with market prospects the production of this article is declining, and no records will be established from the quantity point of view this year. A record is being established, however, for quality, as reports from London show that the quality now being made is better than ever, this being due to the extension of the company’s grading system to cheese as well as butter. Advice has been received from the Department of Agriculture in London stating that, the company’s cheese stands out in quality over much other New Zealand cheese, this being attributed to. the grading of the milk prior to manufacture, Experiments in the regulation of temperature in the curing room are also being watched with a view to a further effect upon quality.
