PERSONAL.

The many friends of Captain K. Peacock, 0.8. E., who is an inmate of the King George V. Hospital, Rotorua, where he underwent a serious operation a few days ago, will be pleased to learn that he is making satisfactory progress. Mrs Peacock has gone to Rotorua, and whilst there will be the guest of Dr. and Mrs Duncan.

Mr L. G. Cameron, of Auckland, who for some tjme was associated with Mr E. W. Porritt, solicitor, of this town, passed through Paeroa on Thursday. He expressed pleasure at the improvements effected by the lo'cal beautifying society in the vicinity of the railway station. Mr Cameron was admitted as a solicitor on the 21st instant, and has gone into partnership with Mr Emanuel in the practice of his profession in Auckland.

After seven years of useful work in the Methodist Church at Thames, and chairman of the South Auckland district for one year,, the Rev. A. Mitchell has been appointed to another district. As a mark of the esteem in .which the Rev. and Mrs Mitchell were held, a farewell was tendered to them at Thames on Saturday afternoon (ast by the members of the Thames Methodist Choir, who presented the minister with a handsome enlarged photograph of the choir. The conductor, Mr A. Clark, made the presentation,, and in doing so referred to the manner in.-which the clffiir had progressed during the Rev. Mitchell's term and the success achieved at the competitions, mainly duo to the efforts of Mr and Mrs Mitchell. He stated that the choir’s bort wishes to the guests accompanied the gift. The Rev. Mitchell in a few well-chosen wordy feelingly thanked the chair for the handsome gift and kindly references made.
