THE HARBOUR SCHEME.
POSITION OUTLINED. MORRINSVILLE’S OPPOSITION WITHDRAWN. The chairman and members of the Thames Harbour Board have commenced their tour of the harbour district in order to put before the ratepayers and hostile local bodies; the merits of the proposed scheme. On Saturday evening last the delegation met the members of the Morrinsvilie Borough Council, and a number of speakers expounded at length the benefit the harbour; would be to Morrinsvilie, and the low rate, if any, which would be levied in the event of the £60,000 .lofsn being raised. The conference commenced shortly after 8 o’clock and finished at 11.35, sifting just over 3% hours, at the end of which time the Borough Council decided by four votes to one that it would not be concerned in any organised opposition against, the scheme. The" resolutions passed were as follows :— 1. That as far as the Morrinsvilie Borough Council is concerned no organised opposition will be directed against the harbour scheme. 2. That the Morrinsvilie Borough Council will give the representatives of the Thames Harbour Board every facility to explain the scheme to the ratepayers of Morrinsvilie. 3. That the Morrinsvilie Borough Council commend the arguments pf the Thames Harbour Board representatives to the serious consideration of the ratepayers..
