BOWLING.
INTER-CLUB MATCH. On Saturday afternoon the Te Aroha Bowling Club played an inter-' club match against the Paeroa bowlers on the local green. The afternoon was beautifully fine at the commence 1 ment of the but before the final stage was reached a soft drizzle set in and took the “sting” out of the ground, making accurate bowling very tricky. Mr F. J. Wells, president pf the Paeroa Bowling Club, in a few wellchosen remarks briefly welcomed the visitors, and trusted they would have an z enjoyable afternoon’s play. Mesdames F. J. Wells and G. H. Taylor provided a delicious afternoon tea, which was served in the pavilion, a special feature being the prettily decorated tables, which were done in the club’s colours (blue and gold), ribbons and blue michaelmas daisies and coreopsis blending beautifully in the nolour scheme. Play commenced shortly before 3 p.m., and was concluded in ample time to allow the visitors to catch their train at 5.40 p.m. Eight fplK rinks participated, and some close and 'interesting contests took place. In several rinks the game was only just won on the last head. When the final scores were totalled up it was found that Paeora had won by *3 points.
