“PAEROA JUNCTION."
CHANGE OF NAME. BUSINESS MEN’S SUPPORT. The proposal to change the name of Paeroa to Paeroa Junction was brjught up at last evening's Paeroa Chamber of Commerce meeting as the result of a notice of motion given by Mr J. T. Brown. Mr Brown said he was greatly in favour of the change. One of the immediate advantages of tne change would be that the name Paeroa Junction would be picked out in black letters in the timetables, and would attract more attention, from outsiders. It would, of necessity, become a junction, and the alteration would show that, the residents realised the importance of the place as a junction for the Paeroa-Pokeno railway. If the move was not made now they would be stuck in the mud, as they always had been. It was nectessary that Paeroa should move from .within, and justify outsiders’ opinions that Paeroa must go ahead. He moved: “That after due consideration this chamber recommends that, the name of the railway st.atioh be changed from Paeroa to Paeroa Junction, and that the cooperation and assistance of the Bor-i ough Council be requested in applying to the Minister of Railways £or the change of name to be placed in the railway timetable and on the railway station.” The motion was' seconded by Mr Taylor and carried.
