OFFICIAL OPENING.
BOWLING, TENNIS, AND CROQUET. At the meeting of the executive committee of the Hikutaia Bowling, Tennis, and Croquet, Club held last Saturday night it was decided to open officially the bowling green, tennis courts, and croquet, lawn on Saturday, 10th Inst., about 1.30' p.m., and the secretary was instructed to issue the usual invitations to the members of the kindred clubs in the neighbourhood. In discussing the question of procedure several members expressed the opinion that at least 300 visitors might be expected. A committee was set up to look after thp bospitising of the numerous guest's, Mesdames AW. Alley, Collins, J. Elliot, and I. MMurdock being requested to act as hostesses. Given fine weather, Saturday should be quite a gaia day ; for with the various games played to the accompaniment of the fine music by Mr Williams’ orchestra on grounds so prettily situated, there is no reason why all present should not enjoy themselves thoroughly. At, all events the committee is sparing neitliei pains nor expence to make for that end. Members of kindred clubs whom invitations may not. reach are asstb ed of a hearty welcome. Regret was expressed over, the inability of the committee to cater for the children whose absence on the day of the function is requested. The opening will conclude with a social and euchre tournament, to be hold in the hall.
