TURUA TOWN BOARD.

SPECIAL MEETING. As the usual Town .Bpard meeting had been postponed and urgent business had cropped up a special meeting was held on Thursday last. BITUMINOUS ROAD. It was decided to accept the offer of the Hauraki Plains County Council to lay a sample piece of five chains of bituminous road in -the Turua township pn the basis of the Board contributing 25 per cent, and the Council 75 per cent, of the total cost. The Union Asphalt Company wrote stating that Mr Skitrop would be in the district, next week, and the Board decided that he be asked to inspect the roads in the town area with a view Of giving estimates of the cost of laying down bituminpus roads. STRAYING STOCK. As stock are at present allowed to wander at will, and not only damage footpaths- and encroach on town properties and gardens, but also seriously damage drains, a deputation consisting of Messrs Bennett, Olsen, Davies, and Gardiner was appointed to wait on the Hauraki Drainage Board to seek their co-operation in taking immediate steps to abate the nuisance. RECREATION GROUND. It was decided that Mr R. W- Bagnull be written tp and asked if he would give the Board writen authority to take temporary control of the recreation ground pending the Commissioner of Crown Lands accepting the legal title when a domain bobrd would be formed. GENERAL. The Board discussed what steps should be taken to • prevent, cattle straying on the roads and bicycles and horses being ridden on the footpaths, but no action was taken. The matter will be dealt with definitely at, a later meeting. It was resolved thtit a public notice board be erected outside the Turua Buildings, and that any public notice could be posted thereon.
