In connection with the cliff fatality which occurred at Tauranga on Friday last, when .a Miss Halcombe lost her life through falling down the cliff on to the rocks below, it is worthy of record the prominent part played by Mr Athol Porritt, of Paeroa, in the plucky rescue of Miss Lysaght from her perilous position. With the help of a Mr Merrielees Mr Porritt effected a rescue at. considerable risk to himself, apd is fully deserving of great praise for .the gallantry and 'coolness shown.
