POSTAL BUSINESS.
HOLIDAY RUSH. Once again the total inadequacy o>£ accommodation at.the local post office was clearly shown on a visit there tibis morning. Some fifteen people 'were standing in a queue awaiting attention from the officer in charge, who w.as doing his level best to cope : with the rush at the tiny 3ft by 3ft window, but was woefully handicapped by lack of room. Granted \hat to-day’s rush at the post office, apart from the fact that it is Christmas 'time, was Increased by the payment of pld-age and 'soldiers’ pensions, - to-morrow, if the amount, of business transacted should be found to bo heavy, after to-day’s experience the other pigeon-hole might be opened as well, thus affording increased counter accommodation, to the advantage of ' the public as well as tihe postal officials. A continuous rush and stream of people grumbling at the delay and lack of attention,’’must be very d's- ; eoncelrtlng to tihe official behind the “ counter who is trying to do his’ best.
