PLAINS RACING CLUB.
FORMED AT KEREPEEHI. OFFICERS 'ELECTED.' ■ A fairly weir represented meeting of settlers of the Hauraki Plains was held at Kerepeehi last evening to consider the formation of a racing club. , Mr J. J. Jenkins, convener, outlined the steps already taken on behalf of the Sports Club and stated the procedure for the formation of a racing club. Mr A. Chatfield was appointed chairman and Mr J. J. Jenkins secretary. It was debated whether to form a new club or to constitute the present sports club l into a racing and sports dub. ■ , On the motion of Mr J. A. G. W 1 - ■son, seconded by Mr. J. Twist, it was s decided that a racing club be formed in Kerepeehi. ‘ -On the motion of Mi P. R. Henry, - seconded by Mr-R. Shilton, it was decided that the name of the club be The Hanraki Plains Racing Club. / The following officers were, elected : Patrons', Mr T. W. Rhodes, M.P-, and ,jrfr H. Poland, M.P.; president,, Mr A. ' 'Chatfield; vice-president, Mr P. R. Henry; secretary, Mr J. J. Jenkins: treasurer, Mr G. A. Avey; committee, Messrs JD. Cr- McMillan, T. Scott, J, A-. G Wilson, Halliburton Johnstone, B. Frecklington, A Fisher, and D. O’Chrroll. ■ x 'The committee will meet in about a fortnight to draw up a programme "for submission, together with the ■ 'necessary applications for permission to hold races, to the Auckland District Racing Committee. If this body approves of the application it has then to be submitetd to the Minister of Internal Affairs'. The club hopes, to be able* to hold races at Kerepeehi on Easter Monday - in conjunction with; the annual sports ’ meeting.
