Dr. Burton, Government veterinary ■ surgeon, of Hamilton, delivered an interesting lecture to -a> meeting of 'farmers under the auspices of the Dairy Farmers 4 Uhion-at Pipiiroa on Wednesday. ,His subject concerned the scouring of cattle on the Hauraki ’ Plains. He stated that he did not think the w,ater was the cause, but tlie trouble lay in the -food,. The flush food after rain appeared to be the cause pf .most of the. trouble. The food contained 1-40 per cent, of albunoids, and he was now experimenting to counteract this. He would go on until he found-the bottom of “the cause of the trouble. Dr. Burton also on abortion in cattle, detailing the causes and outlining the treatment.- He also spoke in connection with mammitis i and tuberculosis in their different forms. A .hearty vote , of thanks w.as accorded Dr. Burton, who said he would be delivering lectures in other parts of the Plains shortly.
