ARMISTICE DAY.
OBSERVANCES IN PAEROA,
In accordance with the wishes of His Majesty the Armistice Day was duly observed in’ Paeroa on Saturday morning. Flags were flown from a number of flag-poles, and it 11 a.m. the fire bell rang put, as' a signal, of the commencement of) the two minutes, and again was rupg at the expiration of that time. AH work, locomotion, and sound ceased as far as possible, and numbers in the street were observed to stand bare-headed in perfect stillness., the thoughts of everyone being no doubt concentrated in reverent remembrance of the Glorious Dead. At St. Paul's Church on Sunday evening a special thanksgiving service was held. Also in other churches special prayers for those who fell in the Great War were offered and reference made to the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice on November 11, 1918,
