10,000 NEW YORKERS DEMONSTRATE AGAINST PROHIBITION.
New York. Anti-prohibition received a decided fillip last night, when a. mass; meeting was held at Madison Square Garden. Ten thousand people attended, and as many .were unable to gain admission. Mr James Speyer, the banker, presided, supported by well-known people representative of commerce and society, and- resolutions were enthusiastically carried calling for tihe appeal of prohibition or at least modification of the existing regulations.— London "Evening Standard,” May 4th, 1922.
