NETHERTON FERRYMAN.

COMPLAINT MADE. A complaint, was received by the Hauraki Plains County Council: that the Netherton ferryman had. refused to cross school children until a paying passenger arrived. The ferryman also wrote : “I do not mind putting the children. over free, but I do object to carrying Over the children at. all hours.” He offered to leave his position if he had to do this. The clerk reported having wrfttenthat each child must be ferried as it came along and as the ferry was available.

It was decided to accept the ferryman’s resignation, his duties to terminate in a month’s time. It was also decided to call tenders for another ferryman, and the chairman, clerk, and engineer were elected a committee to deal with applications.
