KIRIKIRI BRIDGE.
PROPOSED RATES PER ACRE. INTERESTING FIGURES. The following report in connection with the Kirikiri bridge was tabled by the clerk (Mr E. Walton) at Monday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council: “I have been directed by the chairman to prepare a report, on the cost per acre for the annual charges on the various existing and proposed bidges affecting this county. ■ “Firstly, I calculated the value per acre in each riding, and then, the value per acre of the swamp and hill lands respectively ’in each riding. “Secondly, I took the annual charges in the £ as levied this year for existing bridges. For the proposed bridges I took the fallowing amounts: Kirikiri, £12,000 ; Pipiroa, 12,000, based on the assumption that the bridge will cost £24,0.00. and that the Government will pay £ for £; HikutaiaNetherton, £BOOO, based on a. cost of £24,009, and that the Government will
find 10s for £l, and that this county will find half the cost ofj the balance. “Thirdly, I calculated the annual amounts of interest and sinking fund for each of the proposed bridges at the following rates ; njamely, 6% per cent., 6 per cent, 5% per cent., and 5 per cent.
"Fourthly, I took the values far, the following rating area: Kirikiri, the area proposed by Cr. Hayward and alternatively the whole l county ; Pipiroa, an area suggested by the councillors for the area affected by the bridge ; Hikutaia-Netherton, the Netherton riding.
Lastly, I calculated the several amounts per .acre for ths various special areas, showing separately the swamp and hill land. KIRIKIRI RATES.
