Luck is certainly against Laurie Cadmans for, after knocking out McCleary in three rounds recently he found that the title was not at stake. Last Friday he was to have fought McCleary for the light heavy-weight title, but owing to an injury to his ■spine sustained during training operations ho had to give it best. Auckland’s other week-end representative, Albert Pooley, suffered defeat at the hands of Cyril Whitaker, Whitaker winning 9 but of the 1.5 rounds fought. He was far cleverer than Pooley, and can be looked upon as a worthy contender fpr the Dominion heavy 'weight title.
