PATETONGA. A NEW POST OFFICE. A. communication was received by Mr R. Muir, Patetonga; from the Post and Telegraph Department, that a departmental building would shortly be erected to serve as the new local post office. , KAIHERE. TENNIS MATCH. A. tennis match was played at the Kaihere Domain on Saturday, between Mangatarata and the local team. The visiting team was early on th® ground, and an enjoyable day was spent. Unfortunately the afternoon was marred by rairi. Ref-rfesb-ments were dispersed by the ladies. The following are the results, Kaihere players being mentioned first : Men’s Singles.—G. Paton 6 v. Mrs Sexton and Dixon 1 ; Miss Benny and Philspn 6 v. Mrs McClune and McClane 0. Kaihere 53 games, Mangatarata 23. NGATEA. BILLIARD SALOON. An application for a nilliatd sal.’cr. license was received from Mr R- G. Vernon by the Hauraki Plains County Council at its meeting on Monday. Pla’ns of the building accompanied the application. It- is proposed to build the saloon next to the Ngatea boardinghouse, and it will contain a shop and hairdressing, saloon at the front, the billiard room, to accommodate two tables, and at the -rear the living quarters will, be situated?* The Council decided to refer the application to .the health officer and to the police for reports.
