Mn J. Higgins, formerly engineer to the Whangamarino Road Board, has been appointed Hauraki Plains County Engineer.
The death of Mr Walter B. Corringham occurred at his residence in Waitete Road, Waihi,' on Sunday afternoon at the age of 52 years. The deceased followed the occupation of a builder: in Leeds, England, prior tc coming to New Zealand in 1905,. when he took up his residence in Waihi. From then op he was actively associated wi'tjh the local building a.nd contracting trade. Mr CoiTingham was an old member of .the Waihi Borough Council, and served oh. that body until the time of the last Election, when he decided not to seek re-elec-tion. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity and also of the Order of Foresters, being 'trustee of the Hatter court. He took a lively interest in the welfare of; the town, and his death at a comparatively early ag?, after an extended'and painful illness, is generally regretted. Mr Corringham is survived by his widow and grown-up sop (Mr E. R.'Cor ringham, of Paeroa) and daughter.
